I’ve had a tough relationship with swimming, so I was determined to make sure my kids were able to be safe in the water, despite a rough start my son has become a shark in the water and competes for his school team. My daughter was a little more hesitant to dive in (forgive the obvious pun) however this year she has really worked hard and the week of this challenge she had her first swim meet and absolutely rocked it! Proud Papa was on hand to capture the moment and yell as loud as he could while snapping away (maybe that’s why so many shots were blurry…)
Swimming is a tricky sport to photograph, timing and positioning are very crucial to catch that split second that a swimmers eyes are in view without having water spray or an arm in the way, not to mention all that dancing light and splashing water plays havoc with auto focus, not to mention I always end up coming home with wet knees…
As difficult as it is shooting with a decent DSLR I see lots of parents with their phones and iPads out documenting the races, I guess it’s better than nothing…
Looks dorky!
If you have any tips for shooting swimming please share as I sure could use the help.
Happy Shooting!
