If you look at the meta data for this weeks shot you’ll see that it was taken in April, yep it took that long for me to feel better and to start taking pictures again. Luckily it was just in time for my wife and I to join our daughters class on a field trip to the Utah State Capitol building and Daughters of Utah Pioneers Museum. We could not have asked for a more beautiful day, it was one of those perfect Spring days where the temperature was in the high 60s and the Sun was bright with clear skies.
We had a great tour of the entire Capitol including visits to the Governors office, the State Supreme Court, and both houses of Congress along with a look underneath at the foundation that was retrofitted a few years ago to upgrade its seismic survivability.
Choosing just one image for this week theme of “Indoors” was difficult as I took so many, fortunately I’ll be able to use a different one for the upcoming theme of “wide.” For now I’ll give you a glimpse of the Utah State House of Representatives, an impressive room with a viewing Gallery that runs around three sides of the room.
The view from the entrance to the chamber.

The “Gold Room” This is the area that the Governor uses to host dignitaries and receptions, the door to his office is to the left of the American flag.

The Utah State Senate is definitely more subdued than the House of Representatives and has a much smaller viewing gallery. (Unfortunately we didn’t get to go up there)
I hope you enjoyed this little glimpse into the heart of Utah politics, it really is an impressive building and full of such great craftsmanship, and history, the accessibility is amazing and tours are free and often, if you ever get a chance to visit Salt Lake City, Utah this should be on your list!
I’ll share more images of the Capitol and grounds soon so please come back to see those.
